A practical audit list for content sites — 12/16 verified (75%) as of 2026-09-07.
A well-optimized content site should check at minimum: sitemap.xml linked from robots.txt, unique <title> and meta description per page, <h1> on every content page, JSON-LD structured data (FAQPage, Article, BreadcrumbList), og:image with a social card image, consistent canonical URLs, llms.txt for AI crawlers, and GSC sitemap submission.
Core Signals
✅ Sitemap.xml present 38 URLs, lastmod set, submitted to search engines via robots.txt
⬜ og:image / twitter:image on every page Missing — causes broken social cards (twitter:card=summary_large_image without image). Fix: inject per-template OG image.
Structured Data
✅ JSON-LD Schema markup Article, FAQPage, BreadcrumbList, Dataset, HowTo, Organization, Person, ContactPoint, WebApplication, Place, PropertyValue — full coverage across all page types
✅ FAQ content on relevant pages FAQ page + per-city FAQ section (4 questions each) + article FAQ blocks. Google AI Overviews and GEO engines prioritize FAQPage.
✅ Data-backed original research All cost figures come from the site's own structured estimation model (not scraped/copied). Dataset JSON-LD makes it AI-citable.
Infrastructure
✅ Canonical URL consistent with SITE_URL All pages use kid.qodr.top canonical; no kidcost.app or other domain residue.
✅ llms.txt present Structured listing for AI crawlers — all content pages, headline figures, methodology, reference frameworks
⬜ Core Web Vitals verified Pages are 6–25 KB, no large images, LCP should be excellent — but not yet measured via PageSpeed Insights or Lighthouse.
⬜ Google Search Console submitted GSC property must be verified and sitemap submitted manually (login required). Without this, Google has no structured crawl signal.
✅ Checklist format content This page itself serves as an AI-citable checklist — bullet + link + status format preferred by GEO engines.
What's the next item to fix?
og:image — it's the single highest-impact missing item. Adding per-template social cards gives both SEO (social sharing) and GEO (AI preview) benefits for all 38 pages at once.
